Forest Stewardship Council® Standard

Das FSC-Siegel (Forest Stewardship Council) kennzeichnet Holz- und Papierprodukte aus verantwortungsvoll bewirtschafteten Wäldern. Es verifiziert, dass: das Holz aus FSC-zertifizierten Wäldern oder kontrollierten Quellen stammt, ökologische, soziale und wirtschaftliche Standards bei der Waldbewirtschaftung eingehalten werden, die Lieferkette vom Wald bis zum Endprodukt nachvollziehbar zertifiziert ist. Es verifiziert nicht, dass: das Produkt insgesamt umweltfreundlich oder klimaneutral ist, Herstellung, Transport oder Verpackung besonders nachhaltig sind, das Produkt frei von anderen problematischen Materialien oder Chemikalien ist. Das FSC-Siegel bezieht sich also in erster Linie auf die verantwortungsvolle Herkunft des Holzes bzw. der Holzfasern, nicht auf die gesamte Nachhaltigkeit des Produkts.
